The small country of Malawi lies between Tanzania, Zambia and Mozambique. Our Malawi Pamwamba coffee comes from the southern Thyolo region in Malawi, which was first planted in 1979. The cultivation altitude is between 900 - 1050 metres above sea level on very steep mountain slopes. The area has very fertile soil, which is essential for coffee cultivation.
Pamwamba Farm produces its top-quality coffee with respect for people and nature. The coffees grown are a mix of different Catimor varieties, sometimes containing a small percentage of SL28 coffee variety. The harvest time is between May and September. At this time of year, the coffees are all picked by hand and the careful selection of the right beans is the most important thing for a good harvest. Only the deep red ripe fruits provide aromatic green coffee. For this reason, the individual trees are visited about 10 times during the harvest period. The coffee farmers make sure that only the ripe coffee cherries are picked.
